*deep sigh…*
Today I had such high hopes to do nothing but prop my poor foot up in bed, watch chick flicks, eat not healthy stuff and just rest. Yeah.. those hopes flew out the window by 6am. Yesterday I decided to take down my 9,000 Christmas decorations… boy was that stupid! I got them all down and my LORD the place looked like a bomb went off! 10 bajillion flecks of that fake snow stuff EVERYWHERE, beads/baubbles and stuff that fell off of the winter garland, boxes from Christmas and just stuff. As I laid in bed I started obsessing about the mess and clutter and after about 20 minutes it got the best of me. 4 hours later the house was picked up and actually look presentable. Bare but presentable. I go through this phase every year after I take the decorations down. The house just looks so… so… plain now. The only redeeming thing is that we keep our Christmas tree up all year round.
What? Yes you read that right, ALL YEAR ROUND. It’s like a 10′ tree and it’s massive. It’s honestly a gorgeous tree, even undecorated. However we started this tradition the first year we moved in where it stays up and we just change the decorations for the holiday or event. Tomorrow we’ll adorn the tree with hearts galore for Valentine’s day. Every year we make a new Valentine heart and place it on the tree.
Figuring I would make rich breakfast treat for Mr. Fantabulous, I thought about it being a cookie-day. I opened up my pantry and just stood here… chocolate chip perhaps? Maybe ginger molasses? Ohhhh salted caramel thumbprints? Okay who was I kidding? Those are my favorites *wink*. Then I saw them… those purple black beauties! Dried currants. No, not a raisin but a currant. Raisins are made from dried grapes. Currants come from the gooseberry family. Anyway, I NEEDED to make something with them.
I ended up making him Blueberry Currant Scones. I never ever liked scones as they were always so… crumbly and dry. Mine are just so… so… soft and almost velvety creamy. Trust me, when you order them you will fall in LOVE!
Needless to say when he woke up he saw the scones and the very clean house he was extremely happy. Hmmm… wait, was he happy about the food or the fact that the house was spotless AND he didn’t have to help out?! LOL
The rest of my day flew by however I never sat down. Don’t you hate it when you just lose track of time? I did though make him homemade spaghetti noodles again so he’s on cloud 9 and I’m the “bestest wife in the world”.
