Happy Sunday TKW Family! It’s time for another installment of the Weekly Menu. So how was your week last week? Mine was pretty good. Still really liking the new job a lot and learning something new every day. I’m also finally back to my old workout routine though I about died the first day I went back to it. See with me there is no “taking it easy”. I just jumped back in full swing. Yeah, perhaps not the smartest things I’ve ever done. You know me, I never do “simple”. My workout routine is intense (yet judging from the size of my thighs you’d think otherwise – damn genes!) – 7-8 mile run, 15-18 miles of spinning and 30-45 minutes of weights/core. Nooooooooo I don’t do this all at once but I do this daily or at a minimum 5 days a week.
Yeah well I shouldn’t have done that my first day back to working out. But I did. My body suffered (and so did dinner, my dinner). Yes I was so exhausted I actually ruined a bowl of cereal! LOL You’ll find out more about that in an upcoming post this week.
So I’ve come to realize something about myself as I continue to get more fit – I like shoes and clothes shopping. LOL “Duh! you’re a girl! It’s like a law or something!” But hear me out. Growing up I hated stuff like that mostly because I was that fat kid that couldn’t shop in the juniors or misses departments; nothing fit. I had to shop in the womens area. Well when you’re 15, womens clothes weren’t fashionable like the other kids clothes. And shoes, I just hated shoe shopping. I dreaded back to school shopping only because the stuff I had to get was “old lady clothes”. Not that we could afford it but there were no Jordache jeans and spandex pants (remember I’m a child of the 80’s) were just unheard of. Fabric was not meant to stretch that much… EVER!
However lately I’ve been finding myself gravitating to the clothes racks more often and actually getting excited about new clothes. Like to be able to just grab something off the Juniors rack, try it in on (yes I sometimes do actually try clothes on.. in the store!) only to have to put it back…. to get a smaller size is surreal for me. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not obsessed with clothes because kitchen porn (and bacon) trumps everything but it’s like a pat on the back to myself when I can buy stuff like that. It’s like my way to see that all of my hard work is paying off.
Now I still have a little ways to go weight-wise and it’s not easy by any means as I LOVE food. And there are days when I love it a bit too much. Like these past few days have been carb overload. And I can tell as my tummy is bloated and my jeans were just a wee big snug yesterday around the waist. So this week I’ll just cut back and maybe do a cleanse day. But I won’t deprive myself as to me that’s the worst thing you can do while losing weight. Everything in moderation along with a balanced diet and exercise.
Shoes.. so yeah, I mentioned that I like shoes…kinda. Now you won’t catch me in high heels. Hell I have enough trouble walking in tennis shoes without breaking an ankle let alone high heels. Plus my knees would kill me. I put them through enough hell at the gym, no need to add more to it. I guess I should clarify one thing.. these aren’t really shoes but more boots. I’m gonna tell you a secret but just between us. You can’t let Mr. Fantabulous know (not that he’ll care) but in the past 3 week I’ve bought 4 pair of boots! Don’t ask me why but for some reason they are striking a fancy with me.
…annnnnnnd I just realized something. I have no winter boots! LOL Since I now work in town and have to walk a bit to my building I can’t just wear my good boots out in the snow, salt and much, right? I’m going to have to get winter boots. Gee, such a shame *wink*
This week will be a super busy one for me as I have to do some traveling for work. It’s been a really long time since I’ve had to travel for a job. I used to travel quite a bit when I worked for this one company (that I affectionately refer to as HELL – because that’s what it was!). Once I quit there I made it a point that my next job didn’t require me to travel at all (or as much). I missed my bed, my stuff, my kitchen! However with this job I will have some travel but it’ll be few and far between and if I do have to travel it’s maybe overnight. I’m fine with it but I worry about Mr. Fantabulous and dare I say – him eating real food and not just pb&j or tuna out of the can!
So to prepare for my travel (you’d think I’d be packing! Nope!) I made a bunch of stuff and froze it for him so all he’ll have to do is heat it up and assemble. Now I’m sure we’ll drop down a few cans of tuna fish and at least half a loaf of bread for his pb&j’s but as long as I know he’s eating other stuff I won’t worry as much. Plus I have you guys to keep an eye on him, right?
Well here’s to one amazing week!
Best Kitchen Wishes!
