Happy Sunday TKW Family! WOW, it has been absolutely GORGEOUS here in the ‘burgh (and Harrisburg!). And to think, it only took until the last week of July for summer to finally show up here. Well, it’s better late than never however going by the way Pittsburgh’s weather is, it’ll be Fall in about 2 weeks then winter in 4. I actually am able to go a full week without having to cut the grass which is a bonus for me as I’m physically just drained now. As you all know I’ve been traveling quite a bit as of late for work and it finally caught up with me Friday night when I got home. When people who barely know you look at you and say “Wow, you look exhausted. Can I get you anything?” you know it’s time to take a break. So I’ve decided today I’m going to book a vacation for us. Do you have any suggestions?
However when I did get home on Friday I came home to a lovely surprise… the Fantabulous in-laws were at my house. Papa Fantabulous has been helping Mr. Fantabulous do the plaster cementing of the seams downstairs. Mama Fantabulous, god love this woman, actually steam cleaned my floors! Trust me I “raised my voice at her” for doing this but again this is Mama Fantabulous I’m talking about here so it was more like a stern whisper. LOL She was bored and wanted something to do. God love this woman!
What was even more awesome is that they spent the night which I loved. Now me being me, even as butt-exhausted (yes, that’s a real word), I don’t sleep in. So at 6:30 (which is technically sleeping in for me) I got up on Saturday morning to start my day and figure out what I could make for breakfast. While having my floors cleaned was awesome I was met with even a bigger surprise. When I went to do the laundry for the week (mine and his) I found that not only did he do all of the laundry BUT he also put it away. Whoa! Who is this man? See with us we kind of have pre-defined ‘chores’. It may seem sexist but it works well for me – I do the laundry, he does the boy stuff (anything mechanical only because I have no clue what I am doing and also he won’t let me touch power tools). So to see all of the clothes done I was floored and grinning from ear to ear. This allowed me to head back to the kitchen and start off on some tasty breakfast treats. I had about 5 bananas that needed used up so I went with my to-die-for banana bread. Sorry but this isn’t up for offering as this one I covet. Mama Fantabulous doesn’t even have it. By the time the warm bread was out of the oven they all started to wander out to the kitchen sniffing away.
Since Saturday mornings I have my routine – gym, shopping, Homegoods, I asked Mama F. if she wanted to go with me. However I was bad and skipped the gym. I just didn’t have it in me to be honest. Hey when your body is that physically tired, it’s telling you to take a break – listen to it. After we cleaned up the dishes, she and I set out to shop. What was seriously one of the best shopping experiences ever was seeing her face the first time she walked into a Homegoods store. Her eyes lit up like a little kid seeing all those presents underneath the tree on Christmas morning. This totally made my day. We had a blast shopping and then coming home to hang out with the working men. Have to admit, there’s something kinda sexy about seeing Mr. Fantabulous covered in plaster cement and his hands all rugged from manual labor.
Let’s see, what else is going on in my world? Oh while I was away for work I got a killer rental car. Now I’m not a huge car girl but I had a 2015 Camaro and I have to admit, the thing is pretty sweet. I loved driving it down the highway, feeling the engine purr annnnnnnnnnddddd slowing down really fast when I saw a police car up ahead. LOL Wha??? I had to once ya know but I was safe. We ventured to some new restaurants while I was away. The one place had all you can eat crab legs and while I like crab meat I am so not one to have to work for my food. Nope, not this girl. Instead I opted for a jumbo lump flatbread pizza with alfredo sauce, bacon, caramelized onion and cheddar. The pizza was decent though you know me I would definitely tweak it as while it was good, it wasn’t great. Oh but one thing I did have was this grilled Caesar salad with grilled chicken and killer dressing. WOW you want to talk about amazing! The romaine lettuce had just the perfect amount of char and smoke flavor. I am so making this at home!
Other than that, I have a ton on my plate to get done today so with that, enjoy your weekly menu and have one fantabulous week!
