Dear Lord thank you for letting last week end! I feel like I got the ever living crap beat out of my mentally and physically. Work was just non-stop and it got to the point by 11am Friday morning I literally said to my staff “I cannot brain no more. I can no longer be the adult today.” LOL Thankfully it was lunch time, it was gorgeous outside so I ended up just talking a long walk throughout downtown Pittsburgh. I’ll tell you what even though I’ve lived here my whole life I never really took the time to look at the city from a tourist aspect. This city is BEAUTIFUL! The old architecture is stunning and literally you can get lost staring at it for hours. The local parks are welcoming albeit for the little kids that want to play in the fountain to the urban twenty-something that has lunch on the bench while reading.
It was exactly what I needed on Friday as my poor little brain could hold no more information nor process one more thing. On my walk I found some awesome little food store places that I will definitely be checking out. I love kitchy type restaurants/diners/dives. They are unique, somewhat scary but the food rocks. Like on Friday on my walk I found this little teensy weensy hot dog place that from the outside, looked ‘greasy’ and scary yet there were a TON of people in line for lunch.
And while I’m not a huge fan of hotdogs I was hungry and if a place has a line that long, then they must be good!
As I walked into this place it was pretty much how I imagined – no seats just a long counter along the wall for you to stand and eat. A ton of hot dogs on the flat grill, trays of various toppings, soda machine and fries. Nothing more, nothing less. So I ordered the one special – 2 all beef dogs with ketchup, mustard and kraut and a soda. I grabbed my lunch and walked up to the one park and sat there people watching and eating. So the hotdog.. seriously, really, REALLY good! It had that snap and then tenderness inside. The only thing I would have changed is have mine grilled longer as if I do eat a hot dog, I want it charred. But it was really good.
What’s funny is when I got back to the office there were a bunch of people at the “buffet” table outside my desk. I swear they were taking bets to see if I was coming back. I literally was at my wits end. As I rounded the corner I was met with smiles and lots of love. Thankfully the rest of the afternoon flew by and soon enough I was home for the night. I even skipped the gym (I know, shame on me) but I honestly was just “done”. All I wanted in life was no pants, no bra, eat pizza and lie in bed with Mr. Fantabulous watching some movie.
…and that’s exactly what I did.
Saturday we had a ton of things planned to do one of which was go to a friend’s annual rib cook off however that didn’t happen for us (trust me I’m SUPER UPSET about this) but it’s my fault. You see since we have 5 acres (and I can’t use the weedwhacker due to my shoulder), I mow the grass and he does the trimming. Well about 3/4’s of the way of my being done I happened to look down and saw that one of the wheels on the commercial deck came off (thankfully it was like 2′ away from where I was). However I have NO CLUE how it happened. I quickly shut everything off and got Mr. Fantabulous. As I handed him the wheel he said that I managed to shear the bolt off of it. Either I hit up against a rock or cement of something however I don’t know how as I was literally in the field where it’s all grass. Where we should have been done with the grass by noon, due to my breaking the tractor we didn’t wrap up until 4. And since he had plans to meet go to his buddy’s house at 7 to grab a piece of furniture there was no way we’d have time to go to the cook out as it was a good hour + from the house.
So how was your week? This was the first week I’ve been home all week and can I tell you just how awesome it is to sleep in my own bed? LOL I so love my mattress! My Mom always said “Lori when it comes to ‘things’, you want to invest in a good bed. It’s something that you will spend countless hours in and you want something that will last.” Some of the best advice ever!
Well Mama and Papa Fantabulous are due to be here any minute so I need to jet and get some stuff done before they get here. Perhaps I’ll take Mama Fantabulous shopping for a bit. Homegoods perhaps? *wink*
Here’s to you having an amazing week!
