Happy Sunday TKW Family! How was your past week? For those of you in the United States, are you ready for Thanksgiving? So yesterday was my first ‘real day’ out of the house other than a dr. appointment for Mr. Fantabulous. This past week was Rough, with a capital ‘R’. He was in so much pain from his shoulder surgery that I barely had any free time or even time to work on TKW. If/when I did get to sleep I was woken up about every hour to change the water in his cryopack for his shoulder, get him a pain pill, fluff his pillows or add/remove blankets. However as our vows state “in sickness and health…”
but I’m telling you what folks, the man needs to get better real soon otherwise I’m gonna run away or but his butt in a big ol’ basket on Mama Fantabulous’ porch with a note “Return to Sender” LOL My lord people! I’m not going to stereotype at all as not all men are terrible patients – I have some girlfriends that are seriously insane when they get sick let alone have surgery but if I don’t beat that man with a sack full of oranges in his sleep (remember it’s apparently not supposed to leave bruise marks – plus you get super juicy oranges.. LOL) it’s going to be a miracle. But I have no one to blame but myself – I spoil him RIDICULOUSLY. We don’t have kids so for me, his is my ‘kid’. The thing is, he truly appreciates it but when I cannot go to the bathroom in peace for 5 minutes… c’mon lord, give me a break and let his happy pills sleep for 3 hours at a time. LOL
Anyway as I said, yesterday was my first day out by myself to get some much needed shopping done. First though was the gym. God I missed the gym. I love it when I have the spin class all to myself. Funny thing is as I was spinning, and even though I had my headphones on, I would randomly belt out a few lines from whatever song was on. Yeah this is all fine and dandy EXCEPT when you don’t realize that someone else has come into the spin room and doesn’t have headphones on. Yeah… I serenaded this person unbeknownst to me… through breathing hard, grunts and groans. When I made eye contact I about wanted to die as he sat there on his bike, spinning away grinning from ear to ear at me. WANTED. TO. DIE! LOL
I took off my headphones, felt my cheeks blushing and apologized. He chuckled and said “No way hon, you so made my day!” Thankfully I only had a few minutes left in my set and got my butt out of there.
After that I went to Sam’s Club…on a Saturday afternoon…during ‘feeding’ time. Yeah we all know what that is. That’s when the free samples are in full tilt and people will stand in line for a quarter inch chunk of cheese and a cracker. First I pretty much had to park 17 miles away from the store, which is something I normally do but today my legs were crushed from working out. Fortunately I got one of the last buggies – yes buggy. I’m in Pittsburgh we call shopping carts buggies. Go with it. Now as I’m pushing my buggy through the food aisles I ran into a few TKW Family members that were also shopping for Thanksgiving. As we chatting, we naturally got to talking about food and dishes we are serving for Thanksgiving. Well as we got into more of a food discussion I realized that our little conversation grew from 3 people to literally 15! Folks that were standing near us overheard my telling them about some new recipes I’ll be posting and even a simple spin on a more ‘adult’ green bean casserole that will be treated more in the fashion of asparagus with hollandaise style.
…and then the questions “Who are you? Do you work here? Oh what’s your website???” Okay so let me set the image of me – red faced, straight from the gym, hair pulled back into a ponytail, ZERO make up and dark circles under my eyes (exhausted from lack of sleep). I kept apologizing over and over about my appearance but what really made my day was “Honey, I’m glad you look like a hot mess.” Wait.. did she just call me a hot mess??? LOL “Lor, this is why we love you. You’re real. We can relate to you and you just talk with us. You inspire us to go into the kitchen and just try. You make us feel like family.”
That… folks to hear something like that, that’s what I’m thankful this Thanksgiving (well okay one of the 987 things) but you know what I mean. That’s honestly all I ever wanted here – just to share my passion with whomever wants to hear it and to perhaps inspire just one person to try.
Life is good!
