Get out of that same ol’ recipe rut and try one of these delicious and easy recipes this week! This week I highly recommend making the Pork Cutlets and those Flourless Brownies!
Happy Sunday TKW Family! So what’s shakin’ in your world? Here in the ‘Burgh you can tell Fall is here (well that is unless you hit up any local store as they now have Christmas items up on display. God I hate that! Let me enjoy my season DURING the actual season time!). Anyway as I was saying Fall is here. Each morning it’s about 55F and slightly chilly which I actually don’t mind since my new car has heated seats and when I autostart it the temp in the the car auto adjusts to the outside temp. Meaning if it’s cold, it turns on the heat. If it’s hot, it turns on the AC. Kinda liking this a lot.
So how was your week? Mine was busy as usual. I ended up having to go back to my PCP to get another prednisone shot because 1 1/2 weeks ago I helped Mr. Fantabulous pull weeds and don’t you know it, below the leaves… creeper vine. UGH! But eh, one of the perils I suppose of living in the country. Hopefully once we get the house on the market we can move to a non-country setting. It’s funny as I grew up in even a more country area – we had 3 streets, maybe 25-30 houses. The closest store was maybe 20-25 minutes away. There were no red-lights. The schools were also 25 minutes away and there wasn’t even a local convenience store. Our entertainment was the local playground which the town folk put in, walking the train tracks or getting together with neighbors. We were a poor town to be honest but yet the people were some of the best. You were welcomed, made a part of the little community. However here, where we currently live. Nope. It’s more updated meaning we have smaller stores, red lights, bars and even a couple of local restaurants (which only one I would recommend). But it’s the whole atmosphere. We, after 10 years living here, are still the outsiders. We’re “city folks”. Which is funny coming from someone driving a luxury car and me in my Honda. LOL But eh, life is all about experiences ya know? We now know what we want and definitely what we don’t want when we move. I will say though the one neighbor to the right of us, they are super SUPER nice. The ones of the left of us with the pseudo illegal farm and those damn roosters from hell – definitely part of the reason why we hate living here.
Today’s a busy day for me. I sent Mr. Fantabulous off to see his parents and Home Depot….all by himself (which he sulked the ENTIRE TIME as he walked out the door) so I could stay home and work. He loves his parents and going to see them but he hates when we don’t do stuff together. It’s comforting and I love that he’s like that but today, work needs to come first. Plus damn it, I was just at Lowe’s and Home Depot last night! LOL Today I’m working 4 new recipes:
♦ Testing out the Harvest Leaves Bundt Pan for Nordic Ware®. I’m thinking of some type of Maple or Maple Cream bundt.
♦ WalMart – working on a Cracked Out Chicken Tot – either pie or kabobs (haven’t decided yet)
♦ Carnation Essentials – OMG.. OMG.. no seriously.. OMG you guys are going to go NUTS when you taste these No Bake German Chocolate Energy Bites!!!
♦ New type of Scotcharoos cookie – I’m thinking almost like an oatmeal butterscotch chewy cookie but with a twist (or two)
Plus a half batch of my Soft ‘n Chewy Oatmeal Raisin cookies. See about 3 weeks ago when we went to that gun bash I took a couple dozen of them with us as my friend loves those cookies of mine. Well I had maybe 4 extra that wouldn’t fit in the box so I just left them home. I like them but Mr. Fantabulous always said “Any cookie that is not your chocolate chips is simply not worth eating” so I figured he wouldn’t touch them. Yeah…. that wasn’t the case. The day after the gun bash we’re sitting at the kitchen island having a snack and I see him reach in, grab a cookie and bite in. Before I could tell him it wasn’t chocolate chip he, in mid-bite, looks up at me and blinks. He then closes his eyes and as-if-in-slow-motion starts to truly enjoy the cookie. The man moaned as he ate that cookie. He said “OMG how come you never made these for me before??? Wait, are these the ones you made for Jimmy? You made ANOTHER MAN THESE cookies???” I busted out laughing – guess he liked them…a lot! So since then I’ve been making him a small batch of them to tide him over when he wants something sweet. Plus it gives me a break on the chocolate as starting now the price in chips will rise due to the high baking season.
I literally just bulked up on my chips and callets buying a few 5 pound boxes of each type. I still have to get a 5lb box of mini chips but $65 is a bit much right now. Plus I don’t have the room for them.
So with that, I can smell my cookies baking and I should get back to the kitchen. Have one fantabulous week!
