Get out of that same ol’ recipe rut and try one of these delicious and easy recipes this week! This week I highly recommend making the Italian Stuffed Shells and the BBQ Meatloaf Stacks!
Happy Sunday TKW Family! How was your Thanksgiving? Ours was nice. I made our favorites – turkey and stuffing, mashed taters, candied yams, elegant green beans, cranberry relish and seriously the absolute BEST gravy I have ever, EVER made in my life. Folks this gray was so good I honestly didn’t want to give him any. However we did have a slight snaffu with the gravy though I’ll tell you more about that in a bit. So yeah I cooked all day while he worked on the last bit of kitchen backsplash. It’s finally all in though we still have to grout and seal it. We decided after it was done that we wanted to install under cabinet lighting and since we aren’t sure how bright it will be, we will install that next before we grout it. But man it’s soooooooo pretty now!
Needless to say we went to Lowes and Home Depot, many… MANY friggen times these past 14 days. #sooverhomeremodeling It’s to the point it’s comical and sad when I have to tell a cashier to how to ring up something because it didn’t scan. I should not know how to do these jobs. I don’t want to know how to do these jobs. LOL So yeah I cooked, he worked and finally when we sat down to eat… I was too tired to eat. That ever happen to you? So as we ate he kept commenting on how awesome the gravy was. Now this came from a man that normally doesn’t like gravy but he went nuts over this. This takes me back to the snaffu if you will. As I was pouring the gravy from the roasting pan into the gravy boat I realized I had a ton more gravy in the pan than what would fit in the boat – definitely not a problem. Well after dinner he actually got up and started cleaning the dishes. I put stuff in containers and as I went to grab the roasting pan to get the gravy out I ‘butterflied’ and went to get something off of the table. It was in those what 2 minutes that my roasting pan that was full of the best damn gravy that ever existed in the world ended up in the soapy dish water – GRAVY IN THE DISH WATER!
I think my heart died a little in that moment. He looked at me, looked at the roaster, looked back at me all confused and said so innocently “Wasn’t this supposed to get wet???” I was upset and snapped slightly but then immediately apologized remembered he has no clue what room temperature gravy looks like. He thought it was ‘crud’ and not soon-to-be liquid awesomness. LOL Oh my darling Mr. Fantabulous… it’s a good thing I love your sexy butt!
Thankfully I did have about a pint of gravy left in the gravy boat which I’m using sparingly though honestly if I had more I’d be bathing in that stuff it’s so friggen delicious!
BUT, but, but.. I FINALLY achieved something I have never EVER been able to successfully make. Yes, a cheesecake! For years I’ve been trying to make the ultimate cheesecake – one that not only tasted amazing but looked amazing. This was my nemesis and the very bane of my existence. If you followed along on Instagram you saw the end result. HUGE success! It was truly incredible! Now the test though was did it pass the test of a true New York Style Cheesecake to a New Yorker, Mr. Fantabulous. This man went absolutely nuts over this thing! Every day and sometimes twice a day he’s been asking for this.
Gorgeous, right?! And coming from a girl that doesn’t like cheesecake. It was AWESOME!!! FINALLY I tamed the beast!
So did you do any Black Friday shopping? Better yet, did you go out? Yeah this child stayed home shopping in her jammies. I’m lucky I stayed awake to 10pm Thanksgiving night. I did, however, do some online shopping on Friday – nothing major. I’m still holding out for Canon to put their Mark IV camera on sale for Cyber Monday. Mama needs/wants that camera but that price is ridiculous! Oy!
Anyway, I should get my butt going. I can smell my turkey stock cooking and still have 2 more shoots to get done today. Since I have Monday and Tuesday off this week I’m trying to get everything done today so I can actually relax 2 of my 14 days off!
