Happy Sunday and Happy Easter TKW Family! So full confession, I didn’t realize it was Easter week until this past Thursday. That’s how crazy my work schedule has been. But this, God willing, is the last week I have to put in 16-17 hour work days as our project goes live over this upcoming weekend. So let’s dish about last week (and today – all I’m going to say is I. AM. AN. IDIOT! You’ll find out why later in the post). Since I transitioned to working from home I tend to take some things for granted – wearing real pants, makeup, a bra (TMI I know) and traffic. Well, I had to go into the office on Wednesday for a meeting and OMG you want to talk about torture! The night prior was kind of like the night before the first day of school. Like you go to bed early but then you lay there watching the clock. It’s like you’re anxious or something. Weird, huh?
Thankfully I didn’t have to stay there all day and could finish the rest of my bajillion hours at home – in my comfy pants. Every night we worked on the flooring. Today we will be DONE. DONE. DONE with installing the hardwood! This has been a long time coming! However, we still have so much more work to do and what’s funny is we’re killing ourselves remodeling it just to sell the house. It wasn’t in bad shape whatsoever; it was just dated. We just, honestly, bit off more than we could chew. However, I thank God every day for being married to Mr. Fantabulous as he literally is that guy that can design, build and fix anything. There has yet to be one thing that he hasn’t been able to fix. When the house is all done I’ll post before/after pics. He should be on one of those HGTV shows for the work he has done on this house.
Now Friday I was supposed to be off, however, I had to work to get work done for the project. We had every plan on going to the movies but that fell to the wayside due to the flooring and work. However, we did go over later that night to our friend’s house to chill out by the fire. Was nice to just relax ya know? Saturday was a busy day for us – I had 4 photo shoots I had to get done, feed him and apparently “WE” had to go to Lowes and Home Depot. Yes “WE”…. just shoot me. ugh!
So since we were going to be done with the flooring this weekend our next step was to install the baseboard, new doors, and casings for it. That mean we had to go pick it out. Now to me, a door is a door is a door. And what do I know about baseboards other than the only time I went near them was when I was punished as a kid and had to clean them. LOL, He said “Honey, we’ll go to Lowe’s, pick out the doors, handles, knobs and all of the other stuff we need. Then we’ll head to Home Depot so I can return these boxes of stuff. After that, we’ll go to Sam’s club so I can get a soft pretzel and Icee while you shop and then we’ll go to dinner, k?”
Oh sure, that’s what we had PLANNED to do but that’s NOT what happened. People when I say this I kid you not… we spent 4.5 hours, yes HOURS in Lowes yesterday! They weren’t busy, nor were there lines. It just was an absolute nightmare trying to order these doors. This store didn’t have it but then they couldn’t see if other stores did. Then we (by we I mean us 2 plus the 2 VERY helpful workers there) called the online store AND corporate to get this done. By the time it was all said and done, we are $3000 poorer and I was extremely cranky. And then I broke the news to Mr. Fantabulous…
“Honey, Sam’s Club is closed. You can’t get your pretzel and Icee.” People you would have thought I told him his dog died. He was devastated. I felt bad but honestly, I was so cranky that I was over it in like 14 seconds. After that, we went to Home Depot but only to return stuff. He got the look as in “don’t you even THINK of saying you need to shop!”. By that time we were starving so we hit up the local Olive Garden. One can never go wrong with salad and breadsticks.
Today, so yeah, let me tell how much of an idiot I am. So Mr. Fantabulous wanted soft pretzels and I wanted to make an Italian Wedgie for lunch. I made the pretzel dough, put it in a bowl and cover it with the shower cap. Normally I’d use my bread proofer from Brod & Taylor but it’s in the backroom and I can’t get to it as Mr. Fantabulous is putting flooring down in front of the doorway. Then I whip up a 1/2 batch of my pizza dough, oil the bowl I mixed it in and put the dough back in that. I topped it off with a shower cap and put both bowls in the oven (light on) to rise.An hour or so later the pretzel dough is ready to roll out. I pull it out, turn on the oven to 450F and go about making my pretzels. They are shaped, boiled and ready to go into the oven…
I open the door and go to put the pan in and hear/feel “CLINK!”
Yep.. I preheated the oven with my pizza dough bowl (that was covered in plastic!!!) in it. Needless to say, the dough is ruined, the plastic melted into the and all over my stand mixer mixing bowl. I have it soaking it hot soapy water now but it’s not looking too good. If this doesn’t work I’ll stick the bowl in the freezer and try that. To buy a new bowl is like $60 which, at that point, I may just consider getting a new mixer. This mixer is from 1996 and works like a champ. Thank GOD it wasn’t my commercial mixer or bowl.
Anyway, let’s see what happened on Instagram last week…
