Get out of that same ol’ recipe rut and try one of these delicious and easy recipes this week! This week I highly recommend making the Classic Monte Cristo and Ice Cream Sandwich Torte!
Happy Sumday TKW Family! How are things in your world? Mine are rather boring I’m afraid as I’m still pretty much isolated to the recliner. I’m pretty bored as there’s nothing on tv and I pretty much surfed the entire Internet. One can only watch so many cute animal videos on YouTube and look at food pics. The latter actually depresses me as I want nothing more than to be out in the kitchen cooking and baking but one-handed makes it rather difficult for me. Yes I tried and after I got scolded from Mr. Fantabulous I gave up.
While I’m not a big tv watcher I have no choice but to surf the 1000+ channels we get. So why is it I get almost a 200+ sports channels, 100+ science, 200+nature/history, 14 variations of Fox/Cnn, and only 2, yes two, food-related shows??? C’mon Comcast get with the times! And if it’s not them, then someone start another foodie-centric channel! Oh don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Food Network and The Cooking Channel but I want to see actual cooking shows, not 47 competitions. Enough with the “Real Chef vs Joe Schmo”, “Kids Cooking blah blah blah” or “wars”. I want to learn, see how these multi-million dollar paid chefs make things, Teach me something instead of how to use a rake while scrambling eggs.
Everything is a competition anymore. Enough already. Hey about a show where these multi-million dollar chefs visit real people’s homes (like mine) and you cook with them. Let them cook for you while you tutor or give insight. Empower your audience with knowledge; useful knowledge.
What are your thoughts of these cooking stations? Like I said, I love them but I do turn off the barrage of competitions. But yes I do watch/like the ‘bigger’ ones – Next Food Network star, Holiday Baking Championship and the like but those arent a year-round show that just never ends. I miss the days of Tyler Florence, Giada when she was home and teaching us, and so forth. Give me Valerie Bertinelli’s show anyday. She was real, relatable and actually cooked. I don’t want to see 8 year olds bbq’ing.
What else? Well I am so bored I literally said “Honey you know if you need to go to Lowes or Home Depot I’ll go with you!” Yeah, it’s that bad here for me. I told you guys, I’m not one to sit still and rest. Friday we actually ended up going however it was a pretty big mistake for me as the car ride was more than my shoulder could handle. By the time we got to the store he told me to just stay in the car as he could see the pain on my face.
So yesterday the Fantabulous in-laws came up for the day. Mama Fantabulous brought up a ton of her meat sauce, 6 jars of olives (they are some special olive that Mr. Fantabulous loves) and some bagels. It was a really nice day with them as I missed them. The boys went into the garage to work on another set of doors that are for the downstairs while Mama Fantabulous took a nap in my bed while I did my shoulder exercises. Most of the day we spent out in the kitchen just bs’ing the day away while the sauce simmered on the stove.
Today I’ll still be recliner-bound though I’ll have the night to myself as Mr. Fantabulous has band practice. Wanna keep me company tonight?
Anyway, have an amazing week!
