Happy Sunday TKW Family! How’s your week been? The past couple of weeks ours has been rather relaxing. Sometimes you have to just shut off the world and take a breath. We (all) work so super hard that often we lose track of ourselves and our needs. We push ourselves to (and through) our limits just to meet a deadline or get something done. Or maybe that’s just the norm for some. Only knowing full speed or level 10 high at a constant rate. However, at some point you’re going to burn out or worse.
We forget to look after us or put our needs last. That’s kind of what we have been doing. Well, not so much me as I can’t do much, but rather Mr. Fantabulous. About 2 weeks ago, after our sister in law passed away, Mr. Fantabulous’ brother called us and asked us to go on a last minute trip to Ocean City, Maryland for a couple of days to just get away. His heart had been broken with the loss of his wife and he needed to get away from their house just for a few days.
So us, and the Fantabulous in-laws, headed up to Ocean City for a couple of days. Overall the trip was really nice as anytime I can spend with the Fantabulous family is a blessing. I truly am blessed to have married into such a great family. Have you ever been to OC? This was a first for me. See growing up we couldn’t afford vacations like that. Our vacation was maybe a weekend trip to Sea World in Ohio for the day and then we’d all cram in a single crappy motel. I always always got the rollaway bed.
This trip, we decided to drive up which I’ll be honest, I’m at the age where road trips in the car are overrated… unless it’s in a Winnebago. Yes, I’m at that age. lol I’d much rather fly to be honest. When I was in my 20’s I did a cross-country road trip for a few weeks and it was awesome but loooooooooooooooong! I think what made this trip a bit more exhaustive is that, since I can’t drive still, Mr. Fantabulous had to drive the whole 6.5 hours.
A few things I learned from this trip –
- I’m not a beach girl. I don’t like sand and hate going barefoot.
- I have a fear of that much water. I went into my shins and the tides were so strong I started to panic and felt myself starting to get pulled further in.
- Never EVER make egg salad sandwiches to eat while you’re in the car for almost 7 hours. Trust me on this…. Just use your imagination here people. lol
- REALLY investigate the hotel you’re going to stay in. OMG this place we stayed in was a death trap. I’m waiting for their corporate office to call me back before I go public about how deplorable the conditions were. Moldy/wet walls, no front desk people.. EVER, expired certificates, dirty sheets… yeah I could go on.
- I really love my family.
