Somewhere out there someone has lost their smile. Share a pic on our Facebook page today of what makes you smile and help give a smile to someone who needs it! #tkwshareasmile
I started this movement a few weeks back on Facebook where I needed help smiling. I lost my reason to smile. The result was incredible. The outpouring of love from you all was truly overwhelming. Then what surprised me, and moved me to tears, were the private emails and messages from folks thanking me for this. They, too, lost their smile. Some are battling cancer, some a heart-crushing loss of a loved one, some that just are down on their luck.
That’s when it made me think. If a seemingly, selfish act (my post) can help me and so many others than this needs to be a regular posting on my site and Facebook. In a world where there is so much hate and negativity, let’s help give others hope by simply sharing a smile. Post a pic on Facebook of what makes you smile – it can be your kids, your fur babies, a saying, sunrise, or just a plate of crispy bacon. Everywhere I’ll capture some of those images and compile them into a collage to share with those of you that aren’t on Facebook.
The images are just so heartwarming as are the stories that posted with them. From the birth of a newborn to teaching a grand-daughter how to make pizza. This is what makes me smile. It’s the simple things in live folks.
How can you not smile at these images??? Mr. Fantabulous makes fun of me when I create the image collages for this post as I literally have the biggest smile on my face. From Margie catching a fish to rub-a-dub-dub 2 adorable kids in the tub with their puppies! To the more precious fur babies wearing winter coats to a 100 year old meat sauce recipe Mama Fantabulous FINALLY shared with me. It’s about making each of us smile.
One story really touched my heart. Bethany (pictured in the middle below with her husband and beautiful family) shared how her husband went through chemo for Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2009 when he was only 25… only 6 months after they got married! Her husband beat it and they’ve since been triple blessed by 3 beautiful little girls. It’s those types of stories that we all need to hear and see. Those smiles on their faces (and the one on mine) can’t be bought in a store or ordered online. They are real, genuine and heartfelt. I know right now, a dear TKW Family member starts his first chemo treatment tomorrow (3/29) for 6 weeks of intense radiation. He, more than ever, will need your smiles to help him through this.
From the breathtaking mountain view in Colorado Springs that Christine has to the beauty of 2 deer in Beth’s backyard – a smile is magical. And hey some of your photos are pretty ingenious! The one of the 2 feet on the dirt below – that’s Suzanne using a Cheeto as a pin-hole camera during the eclipse! Seriously, how brilliant is that??? Looking at Martha’s granddaughter swinging with her head tilted back makes me almost jealous. When’s the last time you swung on a swing? And seriously look at Wendy’s new puppy below? Seriously that face! And those kittens! OMG gorgeous!
Smiles are free and unlimited to give. Spare one of yours for someone who needs it! To see last week’s posting and stories, check it out on Facebook! The pride of the parents showing their gorgeous kids! My heart just swells with love when I read these stories! I had to laugh at Martha’s story how her son taught her granddaughter how to balance a spoon on her nose in a restaurant. And dear Maria shared a picture of me blowing a bubble as she said that always makes her smile. Hey, I’m still a big kid! Someone else said bacon made them smile. I think they are my soulmate… just sayin’!
But this is what this is about – just sharing and being real. These pictures make so many people smile and warms their heart. I have a dear friend that is starting chemo in a few weeks and I know this will help him in some small way. It’s a way to show that even though we’ve never met and you live a bajillion miles away, I’m thinking about you.
So today, post a picture on this Facebook thread (you can’t add pictures here) about what makes you happy and tag it with hashtag #tkwshareasmile. Keep it family friendly, please.
