Happy, happy, happy Sunday TKW Family! What a GORGEOUS (and not sweltering hot) day it is here in the ‘Burgh! Earlier in the week it was ridiculously hot to the point I think our AC ran 24/7 for 4 days straight. But the past 2 days it’s been gorgeous and has allowed Mr. Fantabulous and our friend to work outside. I helped out as much as I could but I’m super, super busy with TKW and lots of client work plus regular recipe shoots. On top of that, my day job boss has been out of the country for 3 weeks on holiday so I’ve been holding down the fort for him while doing my job. Needless to say it was a stressful week but I pulled through. I even got to have a little bit of fun.
Last Monday we decided at the last-minute (to go to the movies). Ever since they announced the new Jurassic World movie my husband turned into a 4-year-old little boy waiting for the dinosaur movie to come here. Since the theater that we love is a good hour+ away and near the Fantabulous in-laws we picked them up and took them to the movies too. And like usual we had to stop at the dollar store to get him some candy – which turned into 2 bags full. I refuse to pay $9 for a box of candy at the theater when the dollar store is next door and you get the same size box for a dollar. No, I’ll happily pay my $11 per ticket per person and my $27.50 for a large popcorn, a soda and a cherry icee but no, you’re not getting my $9 for candy. If I bought all of my candy there I’d easily spend $75 just on that! Besides Mr. Fantabulous has to ‘graze’ on various types of candy throughout the movie. A little bit of this, a little bit of that… until every single box/bag of candy I stuffed in my purse (and Mama Fantabulous’ purse) is open.
Before we left their house for the movies I grabbed 2 gallon plastic bags and stuffed them in my purse. She said “What’s that for?” I just smirked and said “you’ll see…” As we were packing up our stuff to leave the movies I whipped out the bags and put the opened bags/boxes of candy in them. This way I don’t have gum drops or malted milk balls all over the bottom of my purse. She just shook her head, laughed and said “you made him this way. lol
Did you see the movie? It was ok at best. I’m thinking they’ll have a sequel but who knows. Now full disclosure I’m not a huge dinosaur fan but looking over during the movie, watching his face light up as the triceratops came on screen made the movie for me. That grin of his as he stuffed the candy in his mouth and the twinkle in his eye just melted my heart.
This week I fly out to Pigeon, Michigan to meet with my friends at Triscuit. It’s a quick 3-day trip that’s I’m super excited about. I love client trips to be honest. I love just seeing how things are done, how they are made and more about the company history. So make sure you follow along with me on Instagram to see my live feeds and behind-the-scene-shots.
House updates
So I think we settled on a realtor. We interviewed 5, maybe 6? 2 of which came out once and never called us back. They, honestly, were overwhelmed by the house. It was just too much house (we have 2 houses actually on the property) and it was out of their area of expertise to list/market. The one we went with is more up to date with the market, what folks want to see (photos/videos/drone views) and came to us with honest suggestions. Actually I was pleasantly surprised by the little things she suggested we change. It’s funny as those were things we had written down on our list already to do – pressure wash the outside retaining wall and deck, finish the landscaping, cut down a couple of trees – nothing major.
Apparently Mr. Fantabulous managed to find the lone square inch in this house that we didn’t paint and has determined that we must paint the utility room. Seriously – does that really matter? Don’t get me wrong – it’s clean and nothing icky or scary about it but he feels that we should re-paint the walls and floor. #SMDH shoot me. lol
