What if I told you that there’s a product out there, a full dinner and entrée kit that was easy to prepare, made with REAL ingredients and tasted absolutely amazing – would you believe me? You should! Today I’ve teamed up with my friends from Tyson Foods to discuss their new Tyson® Dinner and Entrée Kits. Let’s get real here – not all frozen meal kits taste the same. Some are fair at best and some you’d rather never have to think about again. But that’s where Tyson is in a class all of their own. These Tyson Dinner and Entrée Kits are INCREDIBLE! I mean we’re talking REAL FOOD HERE PEOPLE! Real delicious food!
Tyson Dinner and Entrée Kits come in 6 different varieties:
- Dinner Kit – Crispy Chicken Pomodoro
- Dinner Kit – Lemon Parmesan Chicken
- Dinner Kit – Seasoned Steak Fillet & Mushrooms
- Entrée Kit – Crispy Adobo Chicken
- Entrée Kit – Roasted Ginger Chicken
- Entrée Kit – Citrus Roasted Chicken
I say, don’t fret over choosing and get one of each! Today I wanted to discuss with you the Tyson Dinner Kit – Crispy Chicken Pomodoro. OMG people. It blew both of us away!
I know what you’re thinking “But Lori, you’re a chef. Shouldn’t you be making your own food instead of buying one?” Honestly guys, even chefs get tired of cooking and want someone else to do the cooking for us. Even we need pampering. If you ask most chefs, they are rarely invited over to their non-chef friends’ homes for a meal as we have this stigma that if we’re a chef and you’re not, that we’ll judge your food. That’s so far from the truth. I actually look forward to a ‘night off.’ I would be happy if you served me a can of beans and hot dogs. It’s about the fact that you want to spend time with me that means the most, not what you cooked. With all of that said, I was excited to try this new product.
The Ingredients
Tyson is a brand I trust and love. It’s always high quality meats and ingredients. These Tyson Dinner and Entrée Kits come with proteins and vegetables that are already prepped for you and portioned out (which is great as it takes out the guess work); then they are frozen at the peak of freshness. Since they are vacuum-sealed in the tray, there is never a concern about freezer burn. And we all know that all natural Tyson chicken is raised with “No Antibiotics Ever.” Their items are minimally processed and no artificial ingredients added! That last portion is HUGE for me! I don’t want to have to go back to school and get another degree just to decipher the ingredients listing!
Where to buy
For me, since I was at my local Target picking up some supplies (seriously they have some of the best food props!) I headed over to their grocery section to pick up some bananas for my morning breakfast. As I was walking past the freezer section I spied some of their frozen chicken strips (which let’s be honest here – they ROCK!). When I looked up I saw something new – Tyson Dinner and Entrée Kits. What drew me in (besides trusting the brand and quality of the ingredients) is that the package was vacuum-sealed and that you could see the actual ingredients. This meant no guess-work on how big something was or if it looked appetizing.
Tyson took care of it – as if they were reading my mind! I was immediately drawn to the Dinner Kit- Crispy Chicken Pomodoro. For those that don’t know what a Pomodoro sauce is, let me help you out here. The ingredients are pretty similar to that of marinara sauce – tomatoes, garlic, onions, basil, oil and so forth, but one thing that is different is the consistency. Marinara is chunkier where Pomodoro is blended and smooth. And for a girl who hates chunks of stuff in her sauce, this is a huge win! The other difference is the cooking times. Marinara can be done in as fast as 30 minutes while Pomodoro simmers for hours resulting in a deep reddish/orange color.
Next time you’re at your local Target, definitely swing by and grab a few! Plus right now there is a digital coupon through Cartwheel found here for $2 off any ONE Tyson® Dinner or Entrée Kit from 8/1/18-8/30/18!
Preparation
So let’s talk prep work. We want fast, EASY and delicious, right? These Tyson Dinner and Entrée Kits have you covered!
Preheat the oven, line a baking sheet with foil and grab a sauté pan with a lid. The perfectly prepared chicken was placed on a pan and put into the oven to cook for about 18 minutes. While that was cooking, I dumped the Italian Flat beans into the pan with 1 Tbsp. of water, covered and cooked for about 5 minutes. After that, I removed the lid and cooked for a few minutes more. I set the sauce packet in a cup of hot water to warm it up. Everything was done in under 20 minutes.
Yes 2 full meals done in 20 minutes!
AND it was DELICIOUS!
The Taste
These meals were very nice-sized portions and perfect for both of us. I actually cut mine in half and saved the rest for part of my weekly meal prep for me. He actually said “Wow, these are really delicious! This isn’t homemade? Really? WOW! That chicken is so tender and juicy and those beans! Really? This was a frozen meal kit?” For him to rave on like that is rare so my friends at Tyson – BRAVO! We absolutely LOVED these! I will most definitely be stocking up on these.
As you can see, these photos simply draw you in. I mean look at that sauce – how thick and rich looking! The breading on the chicken was crisp and the chicken itself… my word it just cut like butter! So incredibly tender and juicy!
Just look at how inviting and mouth-watering that chicken looks! Seriously, it was really hard taking the pictures. I could smell the richness of the sauce and it was making my mouth water. And it didn’t help hearing Mr. Fantabulous rave the entire time while I was taking pictures over how amazing it tasted and that “Honey, you don’t ever have to worry about recreating this recipe. Just buy the kit, as this is perfect!” But then he said something that made me quickly put down my camera…
“Honey… are you going to eat yours???” as he was eyeing up my plate. He was stuffed but he loved this so much that he would have eaten mine had I given him the chance. LOL Fortunately I had enough shots and sat down to eat mine.
WOW is all I can say! The thick, zesty sauce atop that crispy chicken… perfection! And then the chicken… holy moly! You literally could see juices when you cut into it! It was that juicy and moist!
And those Italian flat beans… just wow! Have you guys ever had these? Most grocery stores carry them these days, though where I live, they are a seasonal item. Sometimes you’ll see them labeled “Romano beans.” They are very similar to a traditional green bean except these are flatter and broader in shape and dimension. Green beans are long and round like a pencil where Italian flat beans are well, flat. However they are a bit sweeter than traditional green beans and cook up faster. I, personally, prefer these over green beans.
Seeing these in the package versus regular green beans made this meal more elegant. Something that you could serve to guests if you wanted. Hey, there’s no shame in getting help especially when Tyson is your sous chef!
This seriously blew all of my expectations out of the water. As I was editing the photos, Mr. Fantabulous came into the office, saw what I was working on and said, “Do we have any more of that? I really liked that!” A quick 20 minutes later and he was a happy, full-bellied man! Plus I had a 2nd meal already prepared for my lunch. He also called Mama Fantabulous and a few of his single buddies and said “GET THIS! Seriously, it’s amazing and even Lori loves it so you know it’s has to be good!”
That kind of recommendation you can’t buy. For him to recommend it to his Mama is huge in our family!
So head on over to your local Target and stock up on these. They are so incredibly easy to make and have only a few steps.
Weekly Meal Prep
Like many of you we’re all about being efficient. Many of you also follow a weekly meal prep schedule. With the Tyson Dinner and Entrée Kits that you can find at your local Target your weekly meal prep is a breeze! I purchased both the Tyson Dinner and Entrée Kit – Crispy Chicken Pomodoro and the Tyson Dinner and Entrée Kit – Roasted Ginger Ginger Chicken. Even though we both work from home, we’re often so busy that it’s tough to set time aside to make lunch. These kits are SUPER EASY to make up and then portion them out into your week meal prep containers! I made the Tyson Dinner and Entrée Kit – Crispy Chicken Pomodoro for lunch and then also made up the Tyson Dinner and Entrée Kit-Roasted Ginger Chicken for my weekly meal prep containers. Or in my house another meal for Mr. Fantabulous a few hours later while I’m stuck in meetings.
Varieties
There are just so many Dinner and Entrée Meal Kit varieties to choose from that you’re set for at least a weeks’ worth of meals (lunch and dinner!) FYI, the Dinner Kits include a vegetable for a complete meal. With the Entrée Kit you’ll find that it includes a protein, delicious sauce, and a topping. To balance this out, pair it with a side dish of choice. Tyson took care of the main ingredients for the meal, all you need to do is quickly through together a side dish that would complement your meal! For example you could pair a beautiful Italian greens salad with the Crispy Chicken Pomodoro.
