Happy Sunday TKW Family! So the holiday season has officially begun, huh? Now I know the stores have had Christmas decorations out since mid-August but for me, I don’t really consider it the “holiday season” until after Halloween. Though I do have some friends that are already decorated for Christmas – yes, CHRISTMAS! I just can’t start that early. Yes it’s beautiful and all but to me, part of the holiday season is the experience of decorating during the actual holiday time frame. Plus when my grocery stores still have Halloween candy out, it’s not yet Christmas.
Speaking of Halloween – do kids these days make out with loads of candy? When I was little there really wasn’t any other kids my age trick or treating in my very small neighborhood so I always got a ton of candy – sometimes full bags of candy. No wonder I was a fat child! Sadly where we live now we don’t get trick or treaters so I really have no clue. And I have to ask, and again I’m asking out of ignorance as we I haven’t had a trick or treater kid in over 12+ years but when were full-sized candy bars the norm??? That’s crazy expensive if you live in a larger area where you get a 100+ kids or so but I was just surprised to see that’s what folks give out. *shrugs*
So last week Mr. Fantabulous had his surgery and all, thankfully, appears to have gone well. The first 5 days or so he was in some pretty intense pain to the point he actually took his pain medicine (which is something he rarely did in prior surgeries). But yesterday and today he seems to be fairing much better. We’ll know more in a week when he goes back to get the sutures out. Thank you all for your love an well wishes you sent his way. He (and I) truly appreciated it!
Today’s another crazy busy day for me (but then when aren’t they?!). I have to finish up a draft for a client post (thankfully I got all of the photos done yesterday – you guys are going to LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it!), I have shopping that needs done – I swear someone is breaking into our house and stealing our toilet paper and milk! I mean for 2 people living in a house this stuff like disappears! I also have to start working on a list of stuff I need to buy for my photography stuff – lighting, video cage (as I REALLY want to start doing videos), and a few other things.
Guitars and Wine
With it being the holiday season I need to start my holiday shopping. Mr. Fantabulous has been hinting around 2 different guitars that he really likes. The sad part about that is he has to pick it out and give me all of the specs as I can’t just order it. He’s crazy particular about that stuff and if you asked me to order a guitar I’m literally going to order it by what I think is the prettiest. #SuchAGirl lol seriously. I know NOTHING about those things other than he has really, REALLY, expensive taste!
But guitars are like wine for me – I know NOTHING about either. I’m not guitarist nor wine drinker. In a way I almost feel like I should know something about wine but I really don’t. I just don’t like the taste – same with beer. It doesn’t interest me so I resist learning it. In a way, I kind of feel embarrassed that I don’t have an interest in it or when offered a glass to take it. It’s not peer pressure or anything but like at times I think “as a chef you should know about these things”. Like when we are invited to go to someone’s house I’ll always ask what they’d like me to bring. The one time someone said, “Just a bottle of wine is fine.” I said, “Okay full disclosure I know NOTHING about wine so please tell me what you like and don’t say red or white either. I need brand or an inkling. If you leave it up to me I’m going to buy the prettiest bottle or the one with the funniest name.” …they thought I was joking. I showed up at their house with something called “Marilyn Merlot”. I thought it was cutesy and the bottle was beautiful. The wine apparently…not so much. <shrugs> I warned them. haha

With Mr. Fantabulous having hand surgery and my having to head into the office for 14 hour days I needed to whip up food that he could easily heat up and not need 2 hands to eat. My Stuffed Shells are one of his favorites and they are so easy to make! Plus they freeze beautifully!
So 99% of my cooking I did yesterday. I had a case of broccoli delivered from a client and a case of bread as well delivered. Needless to say I was in recipe heaven! This Caramel Apple Pie French Toast totally legitimized eating pie for breakfast!
Growing up I refused to try broccoli as it was funky looking and smelled weird. To get me to eat it, should sprinkle Goldfish crackers with it. Bribery at it’s best! So yesterday since it was so cold out I made a HUGE pot of broccoli cheddar soup1
