Happy Sunday TKW Family from a very chaotic house. Did you ever feel like you have more time left to do things than you actually do? Yeah I just realized, last night that is, that we have like 2 weeks left before it’s Christmas. I have ZERO baking done, ZERO decorations and ZERO presents bought. Today, and the next 2 weeks, will be a mad scramble to say the least! I swear it was just Thanksgiving like 3 days ago. Oy!
The Tree that almost didn’t get put up!
Yesterday. while I was in the middle of creating and shoot recipes, Mr. Fantabulous asked if we could at least put the tree up. I figured at most it would take us an hour to get it from the attic and assemble/ WRONG! So for the past 12 years we’ve left our 9′, gorgeous, tree up all year round and simply changed the decorations for the holidays. It the birthday tree, the 4th of July tree, Easter Egg, St. Paddy’s day…you get the picture. Folks loved the tree. Truth be told, we kept it up simply because we didn’t want to bother with taking it down as we knew it would be a pita. BUT when we decided to the put the house on the market our realtor said it was best to put it away as it would draw focus to it rather than the house itself. I argued and said that it would make it memorable. I lost. So we broke it down and put it in 7 boxes.
Yesterday it took us 25 minutes to get it out of the attic plus 9 bins of decorations/ornaments. But still that left 35 minutes to put it together so I could get back to the kitchen.
Folks if my realtor was here yesterday I would have probably whacked her with a branch! 6 1/2 hours – yes 6.5 HOURS to put the damn tree back together. It had to be dusted (no biggie) but then on 2 of the branches that I swear had 14,987 lights on each didn’t work AT ALL. We went through each light twice, checked the fuses and nothing. So Mr. Fantabulous got out his multi-meter tool and found the issue. Apparently some contact part in the light itself wasn’t making a good connection thus causing the current to break. Yeah…. my solution was to just buy a new set of lights and be done with it. BUT when you’re married to an engineer, that doesn’t fly. They HAVE to fix things.
I’m serious guys, I was in the Christmas Tree hell yesterday! But by 10:30 last night the tree, and angel, were up and light. Today we have to decorate. I keep wiggling my nose like Tabitha in Bewitched but it’s not working. Ugh..
