Happy Sunday TKW Family!!! 2 days… Christmas is in 2 days. Are you ready? I’m not; not in the least. So I tend to save (not on purpose) my vacation til the end of the year as honestly I’m so busy throughout the rest of the year that I just don’t have time to leave work for a proper vacation. Now some would think that’s awesome – get the whole month of December off, great! Yes it’s great as I can sleep in if I wanted to but in all actuality it’s worse for me. I up earlier as I’m trying to catch up on all the stuff that I couldn’t get done. Then add on the extra stress of the holiday baking, shopping, decorating and all the other 9 million things I still have to get done.
But would I change any of it? Nope! I love this time of year. Granted people in the stores are more cranky but seeing everything so festive and decorated makes me smile. The house smells like a cookie factory and folks are always stopping by.
Our friends, and even my Fed Ex and UPS guys, know that when you come to my house in December you’ll always leave with treats and I look at hot mess! I’ll have chocolate on my shirt, dough stuck on my hairs or hair, flour on my cheeks – and most definitely on the backside of my pants. I’ll be in pjs or yoga pants as I find those most comfortable to bake in. And you will always, always catch me with some Christmas movie or cartoon on in the kitchen.
So needless to say last week I only got to post one post; sorry guys but even I need a break. I should have one more post this week and you are NOT going to want to miss it. Trust me on this one *grin*. Just make sure to check your email for my newsletter or check out the news on Facebook or Instagram. Oops! I’ve said too much already!
Extending Christmas
So growing up one thing that always bummed me out when it came to Christmas is that we only really celebrated it on one day. It’s like you had an hour or so of unwrapping gifts, you ate and then, nothing. What I started doing years ago was extending Christmas. Sure you got presents on Christmas day but then the following few days you may get a little something else. Maybe that Lifesavers candy book that is a requirement in every stocking. Seriously I ALWAYS looked forward to that as a kid. I still do! So I’ll tend to give out little things after the holidays just to keep the holidays more ‘alive’. Plus, if you’re like me, if someone’s unwrapping your gifts you’re still thinking about “Oh I could have gotten them that too!”. It’s a way to stack gifts. Like this year I purposely bought my one girlfriend 3 gifts and staged when I bought them so they would each arrive on a different day. It just was my way of making 3 of her days more awesome. Here are some post-Christmas gift ideas that I know I would LOVE to get and ones that would bring a smile to someone’s face.
And with that, have one fantabulously amazing week!
