This loaded cheesy dip starts with the Hoosier Hill Beer Cheese Mix, more beer, shredded cheddar & smoked Gouda, crispy bacon, and minced jalapenos! This dip comes together in minutes!
This post is being sponsored by my friends at Hoosier Hill Farm featuring their amazing Beer Cheese Mix. As always, all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting partnerships with brands I trust and believe in.
I’ve found that there are 2 types of cheese lovers in the world; those that really like cheese and those that LOVE cheese. I’m the latter. My bottom drawer in my fridge is literally dedicated to all things cheese. I have a half wheel of Grana Padano in that drawer.
So when Hoosier Hill came out with their cheese sauce mix line I was over the moon estatic. As you know, I’ve been using their products for decades. From canning to baking, savory to now cheese, they truly are the best.

This dip comes together in no time. The biggest factor is to make sure you pull the pan off of the heat when you add the cheese. What you want to avoid is your cheese sauce breaking. Read more about that, here.
- In a sauce pot over medium heat, add in the bacon and jalapeno. Sauté until the jalapenos start to soften and the bacon crisps up. Stir frequently (about 5-8 minutes.).
- Next, add the beer and heavy cream in then bring to a boil. Add in the 1 cup of Hoosier Hill Beer Cheese Mix and whisk to combine. (You can also whisk as you add it in).
- Once it’s all combined and starts to thicken, remove from the heat and slowly whisk in the cheese in 1/2 cup measurements.
- Transfer the beer cheese to a serving container, garnish with the green onion, the 2 strips of crispy bacon and optional additional jalapeno.
What Type Of Beer To Use
The first response is go with what you love. Just like when you cook with wine, use something you’d actually drink a glass of. Mr. Fantabulous is a wheat beer fan so 99.9% of the time that’s all we have on hand.
- Light-Beer and IPA’s – if you’d prefer not such a strong beer flavor, go with these as they are much lighter tasting
- Dark Beers – stouts, lagers, wheat and malts will produce a deeper beer flavor. Keep in mind the darker the beer the bigger chance it can turn bitter
- Non-Alcoholic – yes, you can absolutely use that too in here!
Recipe Substitutions and Additions
I so love this part of my posts, don’t you?
- Bacon – you can omit it or go with pancetta or chorizo
- Cheese – this is honestly where you can go crazy though I’d suggest go with a cheese that isn’t really mild in flavor (like brie). Pepperjack, colby jack, white cheddar, parmesan, gruyere, swiss and so forth
- Jalapenos – you could try other peppers if you like. Red bell to habanero all work
- Heavy Cream – I wouldn’t use lowfat milk but whole or half and half milk would work
What To Serve with Loaded Beer Cheese Dip
God, it’s almost embarrassing how many things I tested this recipe out with. I’m a cheese lover and this dip truly exceeded my expectations.
- Chips – pretzels, corn chips, pita chips, nachos… you get the idea
- Meat – chicken nuggets, chicken tenders, steak tips
- Veggies – raw or cooked broccoli, cauliflower, celery, carrots
- Sandwiches – this on a steak sandwich, grilled/crispy chicken sandwich
- Burgers – this is INSANE on a bacon cheese burger
- Hot Dogs – seriously, trust me on this!
