If you’ve never had fruit pie baked beans then you’ve either never been to a BBQ competition OR you’ve been making your beans wrong. I’m here to share with you my FAVORITE way to make competition-style baked beans!
- Peach Fruit Filling: I ONLY use Lucky Leaf as they are the best!
- Baked Beans: Yes you can make them from scratch but today I’m taking a shortcut.

Making Smoked Baked Beans
Have I mentioned how much I LOVE my Yoder Smokers YS640 lately? Truly, it’s so much more than just a smoker! I grill on it, sear meats, oven-cook entire meals, and make wood-fired pizzas in it!
- Preheat the Yoder Smokers YS640 to 275F. Fruit pellets work best for this recipe with the damper 2/3rds of the way closed.
How to Make Peach Pie Chipotle Baked Beans
If you can open up some cans, you can make this dish! It took me maybe 5-10 minutes to put this all together!
- While the smoker is heating up, to a large bowl, add in both cans of baked beans, the brown sugar, BBQ sauce, and minced chipotle peppers; mix to combine.
- Stir in the Lucky Leaf Peach Fruit Filling or Topping. Transfer the mixture to a heat-safe casserole dish. *You can also use a disposable aluminum pan as well.
- Place the dish on the top rack and smoke for 3 hours. Remove from the smoker and allow it to rest for 20 minutes before serving.

For this recipe there are quite a few things you can change up
- Chipotle Peppers: try jalapenos, Anaheim, green chiles, or if you’re not a fan of the heat, omit entirely.
- Pie Filling: Apple Fruit filling is amazing in this recipe
- Meat: Add in cooked bacon, chorizo, hot dogs, kielbasa or even little smokies
- Veggies: pearl onions, shallots, or minced yellow onions

- Can you freeze cooked baked beans? Absolutely! Once cooled, transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze for up to 6 months.
- What’s the best way to reheat baked beans? You can use the microwave but they won’t be as thick as using the oven or skillet. I prefer to put them in a 350F oven for about 10-15 minutes or until warmed through. Alternatively you can can put them in a skillet over medium low heat and heat until warmed through.

- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
- Two (2) chipotle peppers in adobo, minced
